About the event
This will be a discussion describing the stigma of mental health for black men including going over intervention points and treatment types.
Nurture of Alabama is partnering with the the Mayors Office Division of Youth Services to host the Community Mental Health Initiative to continue raising mental health awareness.
Jermaine Wall who will be leading this discussion is a Clinical Therapist and founder of Crescent Counseling Services in Birmingham, AL. He has more than ten years of clinical experience as a clinical social worker in various settings, including schools, hospitals, and residential placements.
His work focuses on helping adolescents and young adults with issues including but not limited to ADHD, anger, behavior issues, depression, and trauma from physical and sexual abuse. He has established multiple partnerships with community organizations to create mental health programming and psychoeducational groups.
Objectives:
- Describe the stigma of mental health for Black men.
- Discuss critical intervention points for Black men’s mental health.
- Examine treatment types and innovative programming for Black men.
