Brooke R. Lawson, originally from Huntsville, Alabama, is a professional specializing in Marketing and Technology within the financial services sector. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Tameka Dixon Treasurer

Tameka Dixon began her career as a Finance professional over 30 years ago, with a primary focus on Risk Management. She earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting from Stillman College and completed her graduate studies in Business Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Danna Perdue-Melton, M.Ed., LPC, RPT, IMH-E®

Danna Perdue-Melton is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist and endorsed Infant and Family Specialist. Danna is the founder and owner of Perdue Counseling & Consulting, LLC, where she provides therapy services in the Jefferson and Shelby County area.

Dr. Coretta Collins is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She serves patients​ with cancer and blood conditions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Additionally, she is a writer who emphasizes health and wellness through her blog Confessions of a Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Danielle K. Powell

Dr. Danielle K. Powell an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine, where she serves as Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Medical Director of the Adult Multidisciplinary Spina Bifida Program and the Cancer Rehabilitation Program. A board-certified physiatrist, Dr. Powell is a recognized leader in advancing access to high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals living with complex disabilities and chronic health conditions.

At UAB, Dr. Powell is deeply committed to mentorship and workforce development. She serves as a Learning Community Mentor, guiding medical students longitudinally, and is a faculty advisor for the Student National Medical Association and the Disability Advocacy Group, organizations focused on health equity, advocacy, and inclusive care for underserved populations.

Dr. Powell’s leadership extends to state and national service. Appointed by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, she serves on the Alabama Board of Home Medical Equipment and is a former chair and current member of the Alabama Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board, where she contributes to evidence-based policy and equitable access to care. She previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Spina Bifida Association of Alabama.

Nationally, Dr. Powell holds leadership roles within the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and serves on national clinical guideline panels. She also serves on the Boards of Directors for United Ability and the Step by Step Foundation. Through her professional and community service, Dr. Powell brings a strong commitment to health equity, family-centered care, and community empowerment that aligns with the mission of Nurture of Alabama.
